Has anyone else experienced excessive wear on the lower bolster of the seat back on the drivers side?

Mine's worn down to the point there's a small hole.

Anyone else have this problem?

I've got 17,349 miles and there is a very noticeable white spot (but no hole yet) on the lower, outboard, driver's seat back bolster.

DEWFPO

Mine WAS white!

Until it wore through. I have only 18,976 miles and it's worn all the way through. I know of a few dealers who have replaced the seat cover (like around $800 for just one..upper) under warranty.

But it seems many call it "normal wear & tear".

I'm a big guy and am hard on seats, but I've never seen anything wear THIS quickly. I'm just trying to get a handle on how common this issue is.

I would imagine the seats should wear better than a Yugo's...!

Thx

Hey...I'm man enough to admit I once owned TWO YUGO's!!!

They were basically FIAT 128's and ran pretty good when they ran!

Point is, I got over 200-k hard city drivin' between 'em and I NEVER wore the seats out...

A 2007 Toyota w/ 18-k..?!???..:bang:.that ain't right!!

800 bucks for a replacement SEAT COVER...that's robbery!

*sigh*
rant over

Mine is showing a lot of wear also. Feels like a hole in the padding under the cover.

wear on the covers? I've got 72k on my rig and I haven't seen a single issue....

800 miles on the truck on March 1, 2007...
after yesterday (OKC to LV), it's got over 72k...

remember, this is a TRAIL TEAM truck, so it gets used and abused daily...yesterday was a non-stop 17 hour drive (other than fuel)...

I leave Big Bear on Sunday night to drive 30 hours/2100 miles to Wisconsin by Tuesday afternoon....then to Ohio for a total trip of 2500 miles by Wed afternoon...

my HOPE is to have this truck in 2009 as well, and continue piling miles on as a long-term testing for Toyota....

72k on a 07?

I have 33k on an '08 bought in the end of August '07 and only left Wisconsin once for a 2000 mile ride. But Woody got to wheel a lot more than I have.

Hey Woody,

what does one have to do to become a Toyota Trail Team Member?

Woodeye:clap:

At 48K, I am noticing some wear on both my front seats...

I spoke to the dealer this week and I am waiting to hear back from the warranty folks.
I have the extended 100K upgrade.
It is a 2007 TRD purchased 12/06.
The arm rests were replaced at 20K for wear, more to follow.........gm

I installed inexpensive seat covers at 5k miles after having driver seat reupholstered from dealer. The dealer had no other choice but to replace it because they could not explain why it wore out so soon. The lower portion of the seatback had worn out. Im now at 27k miles and the seat covers have protected them ever since.

When the dealer refused to replace it, I put a piece of duct tape over the hole and bought Wet Okole seat covers (great covers BTW).

Now I'm talking to the factory rep about my fender panel replacements and i think he's gonna take care of me on the drivers seat cover.

I'll tell ya...this is my first Toyota, and I've bought MANY other cars brand new...the dealer I bought from is NOT very "service friendly". I complained to Toyota and now go to a MUCH nicer dealer CLOSER to my home. I didn't buy it from them and they have a MUCH better, customer focused attitude.

I have the excess wear on the side bolster also. I will be taking it in soon.

Please share your results! I'm still waiting on the regional rep to decide...

It will be the middle of next month before I can take it in. I'll let you know then. The side bolster of the back shows wear and it feels like there is a hole in the foam.

Thanks

it also feels like theres a hard "box" (i assume the airbag module) in that area.

Where exactly does the wear take place, right on the edge of the bolster? Is it from brushing against it getting in and out?

Thanks.

Michael
