Im away from my computer, but here is a thread with a pic of my switch. It's not factory clean, but I actually prefer standard, large toggles that you can feel without looking. You could throw all kinds of switches in there. The light is on when the switch (drls) is off.
Nice, looks clean. I was wondering about your username...but based on the other thread I'm guessing you ran the stick on a Bell 407 for a while? Explains the affinity for toggle switches, indeed.
I envy you. Wife and I both want our rotor wing certs, but its an expensive proposition. Two of my close buddies from high school are USAF pilots. They say its cheaper to start with fixed wing and do rotor as an add-on. Looking into it.
I don't think you save much, but you end up with dual ratings! Be careful, the reactions you develop in a stuck wing will kill you in a helicopter. Let me know if you are really looking at it. I instructed for quite a few years. I could point you in the right direction.
