Separataed my 3sp t/c from stock tranny last night. FSM shows a small compression spring that looks like it should be located somewhere near where front oil seal for the main tranny shaft that goes through the t/c. FMS says "retain pto drive gear, drive gear and spacers in hand. (No problem here). Take out the spring in the transfer case. I did not see a spring in the transfer case.

Is this the little compression spring (#10) shown in FMS. If so, where does it go? I wondering if this spring popped out while separating tc from tranny and I did not see it.

I can try and scan and post this page from FSM if this is confusing.

    Thanks for any help.

Confusing, yes. I have a 4 speed and lost the detent ball and spring when taking my t-case apart. ordered replacement from SOR. However, i may be referring to a completely different spring.

OK, here is a pic out of FMS. Compression spring #10. Based on location in pic, it looks like is near front oil seal. Only thing on shaft once separated from tranny was spacer, pto and drive gear. Again, FMS says to remove these items and spring inside t/c case.

I don't even see where this spring #10 would go.
