I know this is an FJ45 forum, but there are many troopie owners here of all kinds. After today, I too am a proud owner. I bought this off of ebay. Looks to be in pretty darn good shape. At $7,600, I think I might have found a pretty good deal. HJ47 1981, AC, original, am radio, orginal dunlop spare w/ split-rim. Speaking of rims/wheels, these will be replaced with original splits.

I think you got a good deal, too. I've bought from the seller in the past and he's been a straight shooter with me. Good luck with the troopy. Post your experiences when you receive it.

That was a good deal!

I'll have a set of original splitties for sale very soon.

Was this from Mike in Miami? If it is the same guy (Mike) who had that unbelievably mint red HJ60, I spoke with him and think he's legit.

If it is him, can you post up his contact info?

Mike was very helpful and honest... i'll have to dig up his info. i've had the troopie since September. It's a great troopie; runs like a top and minor rust issues. I put on black 16' splits with 7.5' General Muds. Looks so much better now. I cannot go anywhere without someone asking about it! 2fuedbeest, I'll have it at the 20-22Feb event in GA.

How about Mike's contact info? I had it, he even sent me a CD with ~50 photos of that HJ60, but I can't find it and am interested in helping a friend find a high-end Troopy. She wants to spend ~$15K. I know of Mike and John (Global Classic Imports), but nobody else who imports these units.

You can do it yourself very easily and MUCH cheaper than $15K

I actually went down and saw John down in south GA. He's a very cool guy and loves land cruisers. I was looking at an hj45 (yellow) high miles some rust for $8,500. Seemed a bit too much for what the market is like now. The blue troopie might be a great deal for somebody. One should be able to purchase a very solid cruiser for under 10k right now. 15k should get a VERY nice cruiser. I would never pay 25-35k on Vintage off-road. Who are they kidding? I think I got a great truck for $7,600.

depends on year... diesels will appreciate more...power steering is on some... factory air... i think 5 speeds came on some 84's. maybe disc brakes in 83? rust-free and troopie usually don't go in the same sentence.
i almost bought the green troopie that's on ebay right now a couple months ago for $8k... i didn't buy because something was wrong with the engine that was gas anyways... this guy wants $20k now.
