Well, my fourth spin-out since spring has motivated me to get down to Yodaman and get a new front drive shaft on The Mule.
I spoke to Larry about it, and that day he'd sent out a batch of second-gen IFS CV's for a rebuild, he put my name on one, sold me a core that I took down to the driveline shop for him, picked it up the next day, and put it all together with a Trail Gear flange on the T-case, and was set.

Man, I've forgotten how much the front axle tugs in 4 Low! I "wheeled" around the well on my folk's property, and it was like getting a new lease on life.
I missed having a true 4X4!

Glad to hear it! I know what it's like to have a front DS handicap. Kinda limit's your fun off road :hillbilly:

Yeah, It's almost like getting a different vehicle. Still the same old Mule on the road, but in 4X4, you can feel that front axle tugging away, and the frame flexing as it clears the dips and obstacles.
It's great.

As a funny anecdote, Thursday morning, when my buddy and I went to Driveline Specialties to collect the DS prior to install, we passed by some wannabe thug-type kids that had been in the shop before us.
Pretty much got contact high from the pot-smoke reek they left behind.

Took The Mule uptrinity Road between Oakville and Sonoma on my way to school after work this morning.
Not offroad, but a windy, rough road. I've forgotten how much of an animal this thing is in 4x4. Grippy, takes corners like a beast.
I'd grown used to taking the obstacles on that road tactically - downshift here, tap the brakes there, angle the nose out at this corner, and swing a wind left after, ETC, but 4 high makes the while process point and shoot.

Thats not possible you had enough ambition to install the driveline when you got home rather than sit on the couch and eat a bag of chips laughing at every stupid thing on tv.... :D Glad to see your yota has its man hood back!!

Yeah, the chips had to wait 'till after the taco truck run! :D

I just took The Mule out on some trails on my folk's property today, and I did things in that truck that amazed even me.
(I forgot my camera too!)
At one point, my rear axle was on a positive embankment overlooking a T in the trail, and my driver's side tire was down the opposite negative embankment with the passenger's tire just off the second trail's bed, and I managed to creep over across them and down.

I also learned that my dog, Max, is a terrible wheeling dog.
