Mojave Trail Run - February 12-15
(East to West run)
This trail is scheduled for February 12th, 13th, 14th & 15th Starting in Laughlin, Nevada, at the Avi Resort & Casino
The Mojave Road is a 138-mile stretch of dirt road through the center of the Mojave National Preserve. The road leads from waterhole to waterhole, and is mostly a 4-wheel-drive trail.
Traveling the Mojave Road is a 2 or 3-day excursion, best made with a group of well-equipped off-roaders. The trail is not technical difficult, but vehicles must be mechanically sound.
Our Mojave Trail run will be from East to West with the trip beginning near the Colorado at River Avi Resort & Casino and ending at Afton Canyon near Barstow.
The Mojave National Preserve is huge and empty. Except the store at Cima (which may or may not be open) there are no services of any kind available. Take plenty of emergency rations and extra water, and fill up your gas tank. Bring plenty of 'film' for your camera; you'll use a lot.
Some club members will be camping or staying at the Avi Resort & Casino on Thursday evening. Plan on a 10 am start Friday morning from the Avi Casino near the campground.
Directions:
Take I-15, north to I -40 to Needles, exit at the River Road Cutoff , which becomes Needles Hwy, North 14 miles to Aha Macav Pkwy. Look for the AVI sign. Turn right and continue 2 miles to the AVI.
