We have progress! Teaser from the workshop doing the work!
Frame is stretched and cab is mounted, Tray is just sitting there for the moment. Should have more pics soon.

Thought I'd share what I'm doing while the big items are being sorted out.
Wiring harness in progress, laid out on a board that's a bit narrower than a 40 series dash. I acquired a Painless Wiring 26 circuit harness leftover from my dads build. In order to simplify things, I've used the painless ignition switch and light switch. I tapped the light switch to accept the Toyota switch knob. 'At this stage all I need to hook up are the wiper controls and I have a new Toyota switch for that. The harness has provision to connect to the Vintage air and radio. The M57 ecu and standalone harness are at top of the board and require half a dozen or so connections. Kind of at a standstill with this as I need the car to get the lengths to the front and rear sorted.
This also allowed me to switch to an Ididit style tilt column with a GM plug that connects to the painless harness. The column has the hazard lights built into it. Ive chosen this path as I could get the column in different lengths, it came powder coated black and had engineering approval. My fathers build has a modified 60 series column and I don't like the ergonomics of it.

The other neat thing about the column is that it has GM spline at the top. This opened up a lot of possibilities for steering wheel choice. I've gone with a American retro 67-68 Chevy and GMC CST wheel. These are 15" diameter so a little smaller than the stock Toyota wheel, and I think they have some of the same design cues as the original.

The other thing I've been sorting out is the automatic shifter. This is the BMW shifter mechanism with a Lokar lever and knob installed. This was harder than it looks because the BMW lever lifts the lock out lever and the Lokar pushes it down. I've tapped the internal of the Lokar lever and installed a drilled out bolt to act as a retainer for the shortened flex cable and then modified the BMW gate pattern. The flex cable now has a pin on it that moves through the gear detent. I've managed to keep the Reverse lock out and the sport/tap shift capability. Hopefully this all works and I don't need to buy a sport shifter from Lokar.

I'm looking to follow in your footsteps with this build on my hj47. I've seen quite a few standalone harnesses for the m57, interested to see how the painless one compares. I'd be looking to manual swap mine to avoid a TCU.

My M57 harness was made by Fusion Fab Industries: Fusion Fab Industries - https://www.fusionfabindustries.com.au/

They also supplied the transfer case adaptor and carried out the service on the ECU. Service has been great and they know these swaps inside out.

The Painless harness is primarily used for the vehicle systems such as lights and wipers.
