Fan Question

Just picked up my first TLC. A 93 80 in white. It has the blue fan clutch on it. Which I believe is the good one. But some still up the oil density for better cooling. My question is why not just dump the whole setup for a electric fan. Most are only 2.5 to 3" deep. And would give you so much more room for those roadside/PM repairs.

Not sure if the lack of resistance on the fan pulley would effect anything, but that would be the only thing I can think of. At one point, I considered running a second radiator with an electric fan where the spare tire used to be. I've just come to accept the 212* temps when idling in the heat. It's still "normal" even though I want it cooler.

There has been a lot written on this forum about this topic. IIRC no one has come up with an electric setup that surpasses the factory mechanical one in cfm. The Blue hub is the newer and better version but can be made even better by changing to the 15000 cst fluid.
