Most of the kit is pretty easy to do, I would suggest doing a search here, this is the most talked about thing in 80 tech.

Steve-O is right. I put my J kit on last weekend. The only part that took some time was the steering dampener because it is pressed on. I also didn't do the bushings yet... I want to see how far off my castor is first.

The quote is out of the book and is for all 4 springs, shocks, steering stablizer, and to press in the new bushings. Sometimes flat rate is great for the shop and some times it great for the customer. The average install is right around 2 hrs. I think 5 hrs is a little over the top. Even if I have to do it on the floor at a customers house it is only close to 3 hrs to swap it all out, and to do the bushing on a press is like 20 mins if you are set up and the arms are out of the truck. later robbie

dude just do it yourself...save your money .... I have an MAF (3 inch) on my truck, i'd say one of the best lifts!! some people have some really ghetto lifts and its so not worth a few more inches compared to a good setup with less height

There is no 3 inch lift form OME. It is either a 2.5 (which can measure different on different truck) or the J (labeled 3.5in)spring lift that can net over 3.5inchs. It is funny that people keep claiming they have a 3 inch lift. So which is it 2.5 or 3.5 Iridelowtide? robbie

define ghetto lifts for an 80 series. I've seen a few lifted cruisers...but don't recall any ghetto setups on 80s.

Sorry mind space, it's a MAF with blisten and OME parts.

Ncal,
what about the 80 series with out caster correction, incorrect shock lengh, booger welded drop brakets, un-correct link lengh, just because its an 80 does not mean it will be setup correctly. They are no longer the price they use to be, more and more people can get there hands on them.

you boys be nice or Al will come in here and raise hell.
Mountain dewd, where the hell are you.
answer this one first and we will help from there.

Good points -- but not everyone needs castor correction -- it depends on their original castor. Yes, it should be done, but it's up to each driver and his/her comfort level with the handling, IMO. Aside from the booger-welded drop brackets...you're almost describing my set up. If I swap out my springs for the Js sitting in my garage, I will, in essence, have shocks of incorrect length for those particular springs. Getting new shocks means doing a bunch more work on the rig...which means more $$$. For a lot of people, these rigs are a work in progress...and when you're in the middle of working on it, I guess (according to your description) you're going to have a ghetto lift.

You mentioned the MAF set up -- do you have their drop bracket configuration or just springs?

Labor for my OME install including caster plates and a snorkel was $125

Labor for installing a front D-shaft and F&R panhard adjusts with adjustment was $50

Labor for the F&R custom bumpers (which included $170 in steel and painting) with frame cutting along with lower control arm skids plates was $500.

Parts and labor for the spare tire box was $150

I'm guessing that completion (upper rear control arm adjusts with vibration elimination, Slee sliders, and CDL switch) will cost another $100-125
