factory power steering

I am new with FJ55s, I've had my 40 since '90. After reading through most of the definitive resource guide, is factory power steering available for a 55? I see where ac and pto seem prevalent.

Yes, it was available on the later models but was never standard.

Thanks for your confirmation. My dad has a '79 fj55 with a lot rust and i did not know if his toyota power steering was factory or not.

Did fj55s ever come with any kind of limited slip?

This was a Question I had pursued at one time be never got an good answer for pre-IH8MUD I was concerning going factory @ one time

I always was told ( I could be wrong ) the USA FJ55 models 1978 options were that 50% came from the factory with A/C and 50% with power steering and If you wanted both it was a Dealer add on,
1979 FJ55 USA ( less than 1500 sold so I have been told ) came with both Power steering and A/C from the factory,

my 1978 FJ55 came with A/C.

In 1979 my Dad and I test drove a FJ55 green/white with power steering & A/C @ the Dealership and on the way back to the Dealer ship it over heated parking lot he ended up buying a 1979 Hilux instead he sold it in 2002.

any body have a picture of what factory power steering looks like in a pig ?

Is it the same box as a FJ40 ? or is it a different casting ?

and dose it take a different Steering Box stand than the manuel ?

Yes, the steering box is different. That's the case for ALL power steering.

Shock tower/steering box stand look the same am I wrong ?

What about the FJ40 power steering box Vs the FJ55 are they the same ?
