Extended warranty advice

Gentleman (and ladies too) I am about to purchase a 2003 LC (47500mi) from a Mitsubishi dealer in SC. This vehicle will drivin primarly by my wife and as our solid vacation / weekend vehicle. There are alot of options out therte for extended warranties, and I would like some comments on who is good / not and what my options are. I had an extended warranty when I purchased my 1998 LC and I belive it was worth it because the ignition, computer module, ox sensors, shifter stuck, exhaust shields all went out at different times and they were all fixed and got a free rental each time? I do not belive that a Toyota service plan is an option due to the milage, not certified etc. i travel alot for my job now and I am not always around to fix vehicle s when they break, so peace of mind is a factor. Whatr do you al recommend. I welcome all comments, and suggestions. Thank You!

Also I will have a great 1998 LC up for sale (tile in hand) if anyone is in the market for one.

yes, if you are going to buy one you should call your local toyota dealer first, they should be able to offer one to you no problem. if they say they cant, call a different toyota store

And if you can get the toyota extended warranty (it's cheaper if the factory warranty has not yet expired), get the platinum. I don't know if toyota has different levels (deductibles) of platinum (lexus doesn't). Whatever you get, make sure it covers the exhaust manifolds (sometimes it's under powertrain, other times not), brake master cylinder, starter.

Be sure to call around to different dealerships since there is a nice markup on the warranties for the dealer.

yes, the platinum is still available even though the new vehicle warranty is not available (new car warr. only avail during the 36/36 period), so yes, can get platinum, just costs more now. 0 and $50 deductibles are available.

make sure the warranty you are being offered is the toyota one and not aftermarket. however, in south carolina, they are going to be southeast toyota (set) dealers and will probably offer the set warranty, which is fine
