sorry, they are only experts at exporting from Australia, they can't tell you jack about importing it to the US. I have used them a few times, though, and was pretty satisfied. I switched to Lloyd Intl from Jsaltlick's recommendation and am very happy with them--little better price and easier to communicate with since they are stateside.

I have to agree with 2manycruisers, I shipped about 12rigs from Blue freight I was very happy cause I could haggle the price somewhat. I delt with John mostly. There all about the same I guess.

I use Lloyd Internatiomnal. They are based in Massachusetts and have several offices in AU. Shipped dozens of trucks with them and they were always cheaper than Bluefreight. I did ship a few with Richard Dexter and he was a great guy. No complaints other than I got it done cheaper elsewhere

All of these companies are not area specific. Basically it's people sitting in an office pushing paper. Comes down to who you like and who has the best price.

Well, that's not totally true. Brokers near the port 'may' have direct contacts in Customs at that port, which will aid in the event there is an 'issue'. A little personal relationship b/w Broker and Customs Agent goes a long way....I speak from experience....:)

Shipper and broker are not necessarily the same, either. I've shipped with blue freight and lloyd but used the same broker at long beach for all of them.

Everyone I've worked with have customs brokers who they recommend which are usually people they do business with on a regular basis and trust. If shippers are recommending brokers they don't know then you shouldn't be working with them in the first place....might as well open the yellow pages and throw a dart at it
