I did 2 generous coats. I would guess that it's about .040 thick or so. I may need to put thicker coats down in the bed area if it starts to wear. The majority of the work was stripping down to the metal. Shooting was the easy part.

nice work on the liner.. after reading this i think i will have to put some kind of truck bed liner or rhino or whatever the hell we have in new zealand on the deck of my 40... doin a ground up resto...

does this deck liner crap act as a body deadener/noise reduction agent aswell?

well done on the job....:D

Thanks!
It's hard to tell if the sound has been deadened yet as I am running with the top off. I'm sure this winter when the top goes back on I'll be able to tell.

I used the same stuff, Duplicolor, and my only regret is not painting over it.
It has held up really well, but looks dusty all the time...because it is. You sure did a helluva lot of nice prep work!

Grapes of Wrath?:D

I do think a top coat of enamel would make it hold less dust and be easier to clean.

Nice job. After the install, are you happy with Dupli coat or aif you had to do it again would you use a different product?
So far I'm pleased with what I used. The cost was right and it isn't too gritty / grainy like some liners. Some are almost too rough. This seems just right.

Colorado Boy,

That looks great - somehow I missed your finished product. Would you be willing to shoot a picture of your kick vents? Curious how you blended that in w/ the paint.

Also nice to see someone else works in Nike flip-flops.

Duplicolor is a good product, I've used it several times. You control the texture (if you're spraying) by how far you hold the gun from the surface. Nearer gives a smoother coat, I've gone as far as four or five coats, doesn't really noticeably change the product, other than to add a few mils. Definitely controls sound deadening and has insulation factor. You'll never get it as thick as, say, rhinoliner brand (up to a quarter inch), but it works well for interior application, or on the walls of a pickup bed with a bed mat. Haven't used it in the bottom of a pickup bed tho. I'd stay away from this or any bed liner product if you're ultimately looking at retail, because everyone assumes you're hiding something. A good product at a very nice price.

Thanks for the props.
What I did on the kick vents was tape them off and shoot on both sides. I only caught about 2 inches of the kick vents as it was. I followed the line of the firewall. I did not shoot the kick vents themselves I did shot the side wall. Does that make sense? As for the Nike flip flops, They are standard FJ Fixin attire.
Hey I took A pic How's that for service!

Thanks! I have been debating about if I want to go all the way up or possibly do something like you did. I appreciate the pic - GREAT SERVICE.

Awesome

Colorado-
AWESOME job and opinions and suggestions!!! Thanks for all the great pics and info. I would imagine Ill do mine as soon as it's sandblasted, may take the "easier" route as far as getting to bare metal..;);)

Pics will follow..

That looks great!!

I have always wanted to redo the white on the hardtop with a product like that. But it might be a pain to keep white, cause it holds all the dust in the divets of the texture.

Thanks

Good luck. Be sure to apply it very liberally. I almost want to shoot more still. There are a few places where it has chipped off. It touches up pretty easily though. Looking forward to the pics
