I think even American Heart Assoc. will be going to just compressions within the next year or two.

San Diego has been using an almost identical CPR method to that which was pioneered in Tucson, with a great amount of success.

The good thing is, for a good samaritan, you don't need to worry about giving breaths for CPR...

Thanks for sharing the link.

This is very cool and to think I learned this from the navy well over two years ago

Very interesting. IIRC...a LONG time ago the Red Cross and everyone else, including my old BSA First Aid merit badge book taught 15 compressions and 2 rescue breaths. Last time I recertified in CPR, IIRC it was 30 compressions for 2 rescue breaths.

Seems like this is definetely a trend to more compressions and less rescue breaths. Takes the risk of communicable disease out of the picture also unless you have a rescue breath barrier.

How many besides me have one of those in your first aid kit in your truck?

When I did my emt training last year they said that everyone was moving toward this. They couldnt tell us to do it, but they basically said the breaths are going to disappear in the not too distant future. Sounds like that is happening.
