Error Code 41 Throttle position sensor signal and cruise control

Hi,

I have two problems on my 1995 HDJ80 24s with 1HD-FT,

My Cruise Control is over since december and when I checked the engine it gave me a code 41; "Throttle Position Sensor Signal",

Do you think there is a link between this two problems (is the TPS used by the CC?)

I the TPS an usual problem on our 80? Did you ever change the tps on your 80?

I've search on many posts on the web, but can't find any solutions

I have fault code 41 as continuous current in the open motor circuit.
The information I have suggests the Ecu is no good. If you post you email I will try and scan and email a pdf of the test procedures.

Looks like Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) to me:

As for the cruise control; it has its own diagnostics system and its own codes you can pull.

Well, actually I guess I honestly don't know for the diesels.

Sorry if I've mucked up the thread, but 41 is definitely an OBD1 diagnostics code.

I have a 97 (which is essentially the same) and the procedure I have worked for me My truck gives different codes to the obd. I would post the information some where If I knew how or where.

that's the method i've done to check my engine,
but with this code 41, i'm not sure of the origin of the problem,
and yes, this method is for 94+ landcruisers...

do you think the "tps" can die without giving other problems to the engine? is it an usual problem? my 80 is only 156000km...

Hi alex the method for checking is the same, only the meanings change,
1 Was it the cruse light that flashed out the code.
2 Is you truck an auto and are the gearchanges still ok.
3 Your Tps should be 3 wire 5v across 2 wires (note the -ve) and approx 4 volt at closed and 1 volt open across the -ve and the other wire
4 the cruse control doesn't use the Tps, It uses the speed sensor
I have the complete test and diagnose if you are interested
