engine year??

my number stamped on the block is 080776.
that means it's a 1978, July, day 776 according to all the posts I've read
I was told when I bought it that it was a 1976???

Look on the side of the block forward, around #2 cylinder, under exhaust manifold…..you’ll find a date code…first number is year, next 2 are month and last 2 are day….this is the casting date….should be a couple of months prior to truck assembly.

This is the date code on my F engine.

71221, cast Dec 27, 1967, truck assembly February 1968.
