Really, with the 3.4 you're going to need to change the transmission, fabricate motor mounts and the like. There are other options available that will require similar amounts of work.
While the 3.4 is a great motor and easy to swap into a rig that originally had the 3.0 (it will physically bolt in place with a few easy item swaps) the 22RE uses a different motor mount and transmission.

The biggest 2 questions are, what is your budget and what do you want to do with the truck?

Is there any way to do either a 1jz or 2jz and still keep 4x4? I want to make it my daily driver

There are bellhousings available to mount the 2JZ to the R150/R151 transmissions. I would use one of those transmissions rather than the one behind the 22RE you're pulling out.

The 2JZ is going to be a bit harder to come by and tuning it can get expensive.

Personally, I would look into a 2UZ out of a tundra (cast iron block, but same externally as the 1UZ) and you can either use an Automatic or a manual. There are bellhousings available for most Toyota 5 speeds as well, but again, I would use a R150 or R151.

What about the 1jz?

The 1JZ is a smaller displacement than the 2JZ (2.5 liter I think and non-turbo).
Its designed for high rev's as was the 2JZ. So you're going to need alot of gearing to get the RPM's up to a useable range for the HP and Torque to come on.

I don't think the 1JZ was brought into the US so about your only source would be a JDM half cut from Japan.

The 2JZ was only imported to the US in a couple of models (Lexus IS300 and Toyota Supra JZA80) so its going to be a relatively hard motor to find. And expensive.

I like the 2UZ because alot of them were imported to the US. -Tundra's, Land Cruisers, Sequoia's, and 4Runners. So there are a bunch available, with Automatics that can be easily adapted to gear driven Toyota T-cases or an Atlas II. You can get a bellhousing adapter for the 1/2/3UZ block to an R150/151 transmission if you want a manual.

22re parts in your 89 if you want to go on the cheap scrap yard/kijiji for another 22re or a rebuild for a non hassle swapping for something like a 3.4 gotta do your homework and spend alittle more $ I know theres some threads on here for the 3.4 swap
