I am having a couple issues with my truck:

1) I need a replacement rubber bumper cap for the passenger side, rear bumper. Any leads?

2) My engine is running a little rough- specifically loss of power as I accelerate. I hear a slight clicking/knocking sound, again, mainly as I accelerate. I also smell gas when I come to a stop. I am wondering if one or more plugs are fouled....? Any suggestions?

Also, what brand of plugs do I need? Nippon Denso (sp?)

Any help would be appreciated. I look forward to seeing everyone soon! Always up for a river trip (as a passenger, until I get my ride tip-top).

Cheers, Ben

1. For sale forum here or http://www.cruiserparts.net/

2. Like your brother I'd start with a tune up. Add fuel filter and adjusting the valves to the list. Gap your plugs just a tiny bit over stock.

Get your parts at the stealership or somewhere else that sells OEM parts. Gray-Daniels gives us a discount, ask for Bill. Halmark does sometimes, ask for a manager.

Also, check for a vacume leak. You can do so by spraying carb cleaner around the base of the carb and over the lines. If it idles up there is a leak.

Get your parts and get started changing the easy stuff. When you get stumped give me a call.

Ben, I've done all these things several time over with good results. I'm glad to help if you need it. Next week would be better for me. I have a vacumn gauge, tachometer and timing light. I've discovered that valves, timing and idle need to be adjusted simultaneously and then probably rechecked and tweaked once or twice.

Quick Ben, set a time and date. Barry is quickly becoming the 60 guru he was always ment to be. He will do a better job on the valves/timing/idle than I can do.

don't forget to top off your blinker fluid.

May as well replace the distributor cap while you're at it. After replacing the headgasket I put in new plugs(nippon denso from Hallmark), wires, rotor and cap. Air filter too. Spray the inside of the carb with gumout while its running to clear passages.

For Personal reasons I'm into changing heater hoses en masse. Color me paranoid but I plan to do this once a year. How old are yours? Probably overkill, but you know what my summer was like.....

Barry, every 5 years would be overkill. Make it every 7.

when you do, make sure you go synthetic

Items are on order from the stealership. Coming in Monday. Unfortunately, I will be driving around Kansas City then. I am itching to get at least the plugs changed out over the wknd. Anyone have a set of Denso plugs they wanna sell, or might there be somewhere else in Jax that stocks them?

As far as the blinker fluid, everyone seems to be out. Autozone has left-handed smoke shifters but no synthetic blinker fluid. Go figure.

I got mine from Hallmark. Should have 'em in stock.

I have talked with Carquest about starting to stock more LandCruiser parts.
I don't think they have Nip plugs but the do have NGK.
Make sure to talk with Pat or Mike tell them you are a member of Cottonland and that you know me. They should give you a good price. Pat also gave us some stuff for the raffle at G-ROCK.
