At 49k miles, our 2008 LC started to have a faint chirp at idle and under mild acceleration. Could only hear it with the windows down in a quiet neighborhood. Two days ago, the noise had grown into a loud squeal... making me almost certain the serpentine belt was bad. The truck made the same squeal on two trips.
Visually, the belt has a slight glaze on the back side, but otherwise looks fine. Knowing you can't always go by how it looks, I was going to replace the belt this week.
The next morning, no noise, not even a chirp. Since then, no noise. Weird. Not really wild about just waiting for this to recur (probably when my wife is alone and/or we're hundreds of miles from home).
Did any of you guys with bad waterpumps notice a noise that sounded like the classic fan belt squeal when your water pump went bad?
