92 fj80 overheated going up a hill... Pulled over, coolant was boiling but nothing leaking anywhere. Oil looks fine, but car won't start. Battery is ok, but when I turn the key nothing happens. No crank, nothing. Ideas?

Let it cool down and try it. Sometimes an engine will freezup if it was severely overheated.

Turn the key to the "on" position. But don't actually turn it on. Do you get the Check Engine Light (orange engine light on the gauge cluster)? I'm guessing, no.

Like the PO said, let it cool down. Your EFI relay is probably overheated.

Now, the question is, "why are you overheating?" How hot out? How quickly did it overheat? What did you do to try to cool it down? Is everything "stock" as far as fan, shroud, fan clutch, etc? Where are you?

Been about 3 hours now and nothing. Had a few kind locals stop and check/tinker around... Seems like the starter/solenoid. I do have an occasional delay for a few seconds (before this) when turning the key before it'll crank... So that's another finger pointer for me in the starter. Good thing I was only 15 miles outside of Denver and not driving the alpine loop like I planned originally. Thanks for the reply... Much appreciated

I do get the check engine light on... Battery is fully charged. Everything is stock as far as I know (fairly new to me truck). I'm on 285 about 10 miles west of c-470. It overheated hammering up a long hill... Never got into the red and I pulled over immediately to let it cool (coolant was boiling). If I had to guess it was around 95 out... So the overheat wasn't totally out of the blue considering I'm loaded up heading to the mountains.

Whack the starter with a BFH or wrench while cranking (you'll need someone to help you as they have to crank while you hit it).

I don't think starter though. Unless you've been having problems prior to this. Starters typically go when it's cold and they stick.

I have no idea where that is that you are located. Nearest "city", in what state?

Maybe @jonheld or @Tools R Us are online and can help. Those two know literally EVERYTHING.

I'm just west of Denver Colorado. Tow truck will be her in 10, but I'm glad you mentioned that about the starter, as I had though of just tackling it at home tomorrow. I guess I'll need to troubleshoot a bit more to avoid wasteful work. Thanks for the help here... Much appreciated!
