Electrical/Wiring Question

Anyone know if Toyota uses same size wiring for a 12V system and a 24V system for the harness? Theoretically you can use a smaller wire on a 24V system than a 12V system to do the same amount of work due to less amperage needed.

good question, I've wondered the same thing, I have a bj42 harness I've been thinking of using in my project truck, but was thinking about the guage of the wiring. ( kinda sick of the 24v thing.)

course I don't have an fj40 harness around to compare it to, so really, I'm no help...

Compare the wiring harness part number of the 12V '85 BJ70 to the 24V '87 BJ70 for sure (not sure what voltage in '86) was might give you some clue. If the same part number then you have your answer. If different part numbers then still inconclusive as there could've been other changes.
