Hey guys-

Have the HJ60 back from the shop and (almost) ready to go for the road trip in a week. I have a 24-12V converter all ready to go and want to get it installed this week so I can have tunes for the road. Suggestions for who does this stuff properly and quickly? Obviously it's got to be someone who knows 24V well- as if I get stuck in the mountains with the kids due to a bad battery I'm going to be in the doghouse...

Thanks in advance all!

Andrew

Wiring

Hate to rain on your parade , but your better off with a battery voltage equilizer. then just pick off a wire from the 12 volts side battery and run it to a fuse box. Then you can use a CB , GPS or a radio anytime. Works for me on my BJ 42, 3 years and no troubles

does it not just need one wire to positive fused and one wire to ground ? i would guess 8 to 10 guage with a 40 to 50 amp fuse ( or breaker ) i prefer fuse !

i can give you a hand if you want to tackle it your self !

I am not in Kist so can't help you, but as Toynut says, all you need to do is connect the + to the Battery + terminal and the other wire to a good ground point on the frame. In between on the + wire run a fuse which is 5 amps below your max converter rating (not the continuous rating). Get a spade fuse terminal block and run the output to this from where you will connect the wires for your various 12V accesories.

in the diesel section "Stone" did a really good long description on how to hook up a solar converter. Search his name, with key words like "solar". He may have also put it in the FAQ at the top of the page in the diesel section.

You could bring that info to a mechanic or do it yourself.
