Looking for a recommendation on a electric trailer brake controller. Doesn't need to be fancy, the only thing I tow is the small off-road trailer (pictured below) and my 20' deck boat from my house down to the lake (3.5 miles). The only thing I really require is the ability to swap out the controller between my 2000 LX470 and my wife's 2016 4runner. I plan to use a plug n play harness in her 4runner, and hard wire a harness in my LX. Just want something cheap that will work.

The Tekonsha P3 is pretty cheap but if you want cheaper, then I'd say a used Tekonsha P3 =)

i put a hopkins insight controller in my 62. pretty easy to install but due to modularity it can be put in places that are discrete and it’s very easy to adjust and use. it has very little brake lag is any between the tow vehicle and trailer. i’d buy it again given the need

^^^what’s nice, the P3 can store settings for multiple trailers.
