97 LX450 driving along minding my own business and noticed the top toggle on elec seat felt very loose- almost not attached loose - My problem is that the seat will recline, but not go back up - I've just now learned that, the hard way (of course). Leaving on 10 hour Thanksgiving drive Tuesday with a "seat" that's more like a bed. So now I have two new questions in life - first, Is there any way to get the seat up manually for the drive? and second, what part do I need to find to fix it? Can I just look for the top toggle or do I need something more elaborate - hope not - this happened today and yesterday my rear lower latch door handle just fell apart. Oh well, this is still my favorite vehicle I've ever owned, and I've had a few. Any help much appreciated - thanks.

My button was missing completely and I got the seat to sit more forward by using a pen in the socket. Possible a small screwdriver may work as well if it's not the motor itself, but you saying the toggle is loose it may be that the stalk is broken off.

DO NOT DISCARD IT. Save it even if it needs a new motor.

Thanks and you're right - it looks like there are two "stalks" and the top one is broken. Once I realized that I was able to apply enough pressure to make the connection and get the seat back up.

Once you have it where you want it. Reach under the seat and pull the plug. Keeps you from getting back in that situation.

thanks - now on to the next step - getting it fixed...?

New seat switches are available in grey only. Donor switches in oak go fast.

You can (and someone here has) fix the switch yourself, but there are no OEM parts for it. Getting the switch out requires pulling the cover up on that side. FSM says you have to remove the entire cover, other say not. I haven't done it, but it's on my to-do list.

I'd recommend swapping the PS and DS switches, until you decide on a permanent solution. Or just ignore it.

Me too

Here's the fix (homemade, but he likes it)

Check the youtube channel for Texasknowhow as he repairs his switch and deals with the oak color issue.
