Recent increase in bear human contact in the greater yellowstone area prompted me to try out the UDAP electric bear fence.
At less than 4 lbs with battery, these babies provide 6000 volts continuously for 5 weeks with 2 D batteries.
This does not take the place of taking the usual precautions while in bear country, it just adds another level of safety.
Canoe camped in camp 14a at the base of the Skillet glacier of Mt Moran in the Tetons last week with my 5 year old and better half, I stayed up most of the night due to recent cub sitings by us at this camp earlier. Wish I had the fence then.
