EGR Tube vs. Manifold Leak

Aaaaaand my manifold just ripped open. No tick, straight open exhaust now.

So much for oem gasket and machined rebuilt manifold assembly torqued correctly and in proper order.

I would desmog and save some hassle of getting to the manifold but could end up in CA at some point for my job.

Normally the EGR valve opens while driving so there's no back pressure in the EGR J tube and it doesn't leak or make noise. When the EGR valve is disabled, there's loads of exhaust pressure cuz it has nowhere to go. Eventually the gasket burns up and an exhaust leak can be heard.
The EGR plumbing system was never designed to be disabled at the valve, which is why it gives a lot of people grief with leaking exhaust.
