ECT switch Problems on 1994 Toyota 4runner SR5 V6

Problem: truck surges when driving but goes away completely when i push the "ECT" switch. While the ECT switch is engaged it runs perfectly normal - It is not a huge problem other than burning more fuel, but I would like to try and solve the problem thanks, Kevin.

Well today I drove the 14 km's to work no problems - 11 hour later i drove home stopped at the cold beer and it's still good ! maybe the switch stuck on for a bit or ???? who knows !
