I have an early side shift trans/transfer assembly that came with a vehicle. It is complete but the transfer gears have some rust in a couple spots and the reverse gear in the trans is pretty ripped up. $150 plus shipping??? Pics available for serious buyers.

Willing to part out.

I'm assuming that "Side Shift" means it has the lever through the floor, not the vacuum shift assembly?

If so, I'd like the shifter assembly.
PM sent.

Side shift means Early 3 speed with shift arms coming through the side of the transmission. Pre 64?? Transfer is vacuum shifted.

I have an extra vacuum shift assembly with a worn shift fork. The rest is in good condition. $20 Shipped if interested.

Does it match the one on the side shifter transmission/transfer? The mid 63 and later vacuum shifter is a little taller and the floor pan on these is a little taller so would probably hit the floor on the earler cruisers. DO you have a picture you could email me?

Here's a couple pics of the spare vacuum shift against the 64 transfer case and the early sideshift trans/transfer. I can't see any difference between them.

I checked the June 63 transmission/transfer manual and sure enough they still show the vacuum shifter with the exposed linkage. I thought that changed the same time the transmission changed. On my 65 FJ45LPB the linkage is all inside the housing. I do know on my 63 parts vehicle the floor area around the vacuum shifter is lower than my 65 FJ45. I installed a later tunnel cover and there is about a 1/2" gap in that area.

I will take that vacuum shifter. I will get with you next week to figure out how to get you paid.
