Its all relative Dean,
In cruiser speak here in australia, $1500 is getting up there. It is rare, but for the same money, you can get an FJ45, that needs little to no work at all, or a HJ45 with a bit of rust in the bolt on panels. for another 1000-1500 you can get an 83 - 84 HJ47 with tacho dash, discs, etc etc etc. for 5000 you can get a 75 series diesel. Pay more then 2000 for a 55 series and you have ever been shafted, or bought an exceptional one. Troopys over here can be bought for between 1500 and 3500 for a good one. 75 series troopys for not much more. 60 series diesel between 1000 and 5000 and I just bought a good 1996 80 series gxl petrol with LPG for 5500.
If I had the disposable $$ at the moment I would have bought it too, but a good running HJ45-7 is more of a logical choice atm. I personally never expected this to reach any more than 900, with landcruiser cab chass being so common here.

You are correct, and the same can be said for over here, but the big difference is that while there are hundreds, and thousands of newer cruisers, there are very very few old ones, and these are the ones that cruiser enthusiast should find a way to get, or to get into the hands of another enthusiasts (I've done this), so they can be restored. I'm sorry, I should have made clear that this is a hobby for me, I do not daily drive one, so for that price, I would have jumped on it.

I can go buy a newer cruiser tomorrow to drive right a way if I wished, but try saying the same about one made in 1960 or older... It is all relative

* never saw those old rigs only on mud :D
Toyota started in Germany 1971 and the first sold Toyota was a Corolla Coupe
Cruiser sales started in 1974/75 and only FJ40/55 were sold, later they sold BJ40`s too.
