So I just bought my first Cruiser. And it has braking issues. They work, it just takes 3 pumps. The front flex brake lines are brand new, and the brake master is relatively new, so I was told from the past owner. All the pads, in the front and rear were replaced 3 months ago.

There is zero air in the lines now, and I should be getting good pressure.

The question I have is. Does the drive shaft E-brake have to be operational/connected for the whole braking system to work properly. Will it have any adverse effect on the brake master, can it sense the E-brake or lack of?

I was also thinking that maybe the pads werent set tight enought to the drums when they were changed. But that seems too minor to be the whole problem.

Any info or advice you guys might have would be greatly taken. Thanks

Driveshaft ebrake has nothing to do with the rest of the braking system.

Yes, you should adjust the shoes on the rear brakes using the brake cylinder adjusters. But don't you have disc brakes on the front?

I suspect there may still be air in the lines.

Brake pads

Is there any trick to adjusting the pads. Should there be drag on the drum?

Also can a newer style Toyota brake master be used on a 40, such as a minitruck V6 master?
