lookin at doing a dual battery setup.... and looks like ironman 4x4 has a 140 amp or 275 amp kit.... trying to decide if its worth it for the 275 amp kit or just keep it simple with the 140 amp...

although the 275 allows me to link the batteries in series if i need too... any opinions

Boy oh boy, I should think 140 amps should sufficient, unless the eighties calls and requires chrome light bars with 16 halogen lights. With todays LED technology and a little common sense a guy should be able survive with 140amps just fine. I bet the winch is the only thing drawing serious juice and so long as we keep the jeep wheeling to a minimum you should be good to go! :D

In general I have found that high amp alternators are less reliable than the lower amp ones. Some duramax diesels even list "dual alternators" as an option for those towing huge RV's and such.

u would be surprised on how much draw the blower motor for the heater uses...

but if the starting battery fails and i am able to link the aux battery to start the truck... or in need of some extra juice for the aux battery when winching...

overall looks to be a good setup from iron 4x4 and with the way the canadian dollar is right now... 1 candian to .999 us i think it is... thats what paypal was charging me when i registered with the TLCA this weekend... you know that they dont give you a plaque anymore with the membership, you have to buy it seperate now...
