I have a low one, not sure if 2" or 3" will check. Used just a few times, you can borrow it but if you want it I'll let it go cheap if it works for you
Ya, probably cheaper to buy outright than pay for fuel borrowing one. PA usually has them cheap. I think I saw a 6 way adjustable class 3 for about $40 in the current flier. Non-adjustable are a bit cheaper depending on the class.

I some cases you can flip the hitch upside down.
That's the one. Its 50% off right now. Remember it is only a class III hitch, so under 5000 pull and 500 on the tong. A class IV is more than double that.
What are you towing and do you know what the 81 rated at? I presume it would be similar to the Patrol. The GU Patrol is rated at 7055 lbs (3200 kg) in Australia . The GQ is rated at 5512 (2500 kg braked trailer) Both have an unbraked max of 1654 lbs (750 kg). The reason for the difference is upgraded braking (twin piston calipers) and heavier suspension. I got the later when I upgraded with ARB springs and shocks. The most I have pulled is about 3000-4000 lbs of wet sand - mostly uphill and not in my plans to do for any distance.
asked if I could tow her tent trailer up to Golden Ears. It's a big trailer as far as tent trailers go, something like #2500 and roughly 15' (ish) long.
It should be no problem for you to pull that up there. At that weight, I presume it has electric or surge brakes. Remember that 2500 lbs is usually the dry weight. Add all their camping stuff and you will likely be at 3000 lbs or over.
That looks like it would be a convenient setup, but can you drop the tailgate with the hitch in? Looks like it might stick up a bit high.

From the looks of it maybe? I know my pintle hitch has a few inches to spare and that is mounted on the cross-member

Have you measured the one you have Pete? By 2" I meant the square receiver size. PA has another non adjustable one that is a 4" drop for that same price, but I need to measure that trailer and see if that would work.

Yes it's a 2" receiver size, with a 3" drop (I'm assuming the 3" is measured from the center of the receiver to the top of the hitch plate or top surface)
The drop/rise is measured from the top of the drawbar to the mounting surface for the ball.

Towed it up last night, they ended up buying that drop hitch from PA as that trailer is so low it needed the 9" drop, but thanks anyways for the hitch Pete, I'll bring it back for you at CC days.
Side note, first time I've towed anything that large, I was very surprised as to how much I could "feel" that trailer behind the 80. Weight wasn't a problem, although there were no hills to speak of, but I could really feel it "lurching", for lack of a better term, behind me.
