i did all my window runners. adding dielectric grease to the connectors.

was there something else i need to grease or add some silicone line to?!

and do i just manually clean and gently file the contacts on this unit?

also i noticed the driver’s side window was SUPER SLOW and weak when i went to roll it up and actually had to help it up. did i drain the damn battery or not plug the connector all the way in or is there something i need to look at before buttoning it all up please?

i found the door card thread but didn’t see much in R&R.

THANKS

ok. mostly back together. anyone know how this “plunger” for the window lock gets captured by the little “sled” with the contacts?
it seems to have a front and back with one hump higher than another so it can only go IN one way. but i can’t seem to get the little ledge “captured” by the sled so it will stay on. right now the spring just pushes it off. and i think if it can click in and get captured it will stay.
anyone been there done that with this part?

That spring is Toyota's version of a rubiks cube; enjoy the puzzle.

WHAT!?!?!!

You spent time WORKING on it and not just making lists and cataloging locations and torque values?????

It's been years, but I think I gave up on that part. I remember something giving me immense grief and just buttoned it all back up where I could control all the windows. I've got no use for the window locks, so haven't missed it.

yeah bro. that’s how i roll. helps to read up first sometimes and put some time in. cuts down on the f***ups to work accomplished ratio.

thanks. i think i am there. almost.

so it SEEMS to me the “sled” with the pair of springs and contacts on one side and the whacky Lshaped spring on the other side can only go in one way but it has to go in BEFORE you close the black top down with all the buttons.
i don’t think it will fit by trying to put the sled in after the fact.
so then you have the spring and the white plastic “plunger” and the black cap (which is actually a separate piece).
seems like the plunger goes through the spring and it /should/ be able to clip in to the sled somehow because it has a horizontal slot cut in it. and if you can’t get it to be “captured” there is no way for it to stay connected. it will just be loose on top.
maybe some more dissing at an angle or something or doing it upside down (!) will work or something.

You are very patient. I took a look at the contacts in mine and ordered a new one from switch doctor.com . It was 28.00

yeah. thanks for the input on this one.

i like fixing things that would otherwise be trashed. and learning. and challenges too. i’m also sort of trying to teach myself low voltage elektrikery so this kind of item is good to get into.

but i’ve been hearing that a lot. i can’t help but think that the quality on items like this basically went to disposable level though. whereas these might be saved. not a knock on the new one’s but i have to imagine they are not the same item or even close really. but maybe i am missing something.

OK. so the deal with the power window lock is you have to hold the button and “plunger” in from the top and then take the sled/contacts/spring assembly and manually clip it on from underneath. at that point you can let it go.
then if you get it at eye level you can put the top on the base and get the sled partially into the base. you have to MANUALLY push the contacts back in in order to get it to seat. having it at eye level helps.
be careful not to push the button down when putting it all together until it is all closed up and screwed down. if you depress that window lock button and the sled is not fully contained in the lower housing the SPRING will fall out and/or get hung up and you’ll wonder why it is not seating all the way down into the well.
hope that makes sense.
