Drivers Seat Question for 80 series

Can I relocate the driver seat on my new (to me) '96 LC towards the rear of the vehicle without compromising safety??

The electric seat motors are about shot and i need more leg room....

You could remove the DS foot rest you'll get a bit more room up front. I just did the seat maintenance (same link as above) and it cured my previously un-operable seat. Yours is probably the same way - the gears go back, the motors seem to be pretty stout.
