Did a brake shoe and cylinder replacement on my 85 truck due to leaking cylinder. Adjusted the brakes out and took it out for a test drive. The wheel and drum on the driver side got really hot. I jacked up the rear end and the tire spins freely. Pass side is fine and stays cool. Decide to swap drums around and adjust the driver side almost all the way in. Take it for another test drive and it still gets hot. I've checked everything and nothing is binding and moves freely. I'm open to suggestions at this point.

That's quite strange with 0 brake drag and the drum is heating up. Heat transferring from a wheel bearing that's bad?

I would put the rear on jacks and run it to see if it heats up without braking just to rule out bearings and drive gears. No heat then you know somethings up with the brakes.

E brake tire...

Check the cable, its probably too tight.

Well a set of new OEM Toyota brake shoes fixed the problem. Thanks Onur. Just to be sure I reinstalled the Autozone shoes and the problem came back. Slapped the OEM's back in record time and it's good to go.:bounce::)
