G'day all, I am a new member to IH8MUD and have been browsing/searching your post's now for a while, but have not found anything relating to the drivers door alarm, that drives me insane the minute I open the drivers door, I have a 2011 GXL LC200, my wife has the 2017 GXL LC200, my mates and friends have a 2009,2010,2014 all GXL LC200's and none of these cruisers have a door alarm that goes off when the drivers door is opened, all of these cars have the keyless start system.
the door alarm on my 2011 will beep if I open the door, if I have the radio on but engine off and door open, it will only stop beeping when I press the start button a second time for ignition power or if the engine is running and the door is open,
I have been back to my local Toyota dealer twice to be told that it cannot be turned off and all cruisers do it ! when I physically showed them my wife's 2017 GXL didn't do it they said it must just be my model, and deal with it !!
so has anyone out there with a 2011 GXL found away to kill that door alarm ???

Have you pulled the battery leads for 15 min?

Looked for blown fuses?

Is the battery in the key known good?

There are a number of posts on lcool that will guide you about how to reduce the sound of the alarm. Basically you pull the instrument cluster and screw a large self-tapping screw into the beeper. I have done it to my (pre-update) 2015 GXL because it is the only way to shut down ALL of the beeps produced by that particular beeper. The instructions on lcool are detailed and clear, and the whole job took me less than 10 minutes.

YMMV, Tony

I have tried that several times, and had an auto elect go through it looking for things like blown fuse, bad connections, nothing has presented yet,

The door alarm is no more, I was. But hesitant about outing a screw in the speaker housing on the instrument cluster, so I got out the trusty die grinder and buzzed the top of the outer housing off and peeled away the flat silver diaphragm, and now pure silence,
