I have ome heavies front and rear and i am saggin in the front. I'm wanting to get some of metal tech front spacers and am wondering if i could use driveline spacers to correct the vibes i would get by going another inch and a half or so. I ask because i have a buddy who can make me driveline spacers out of solid aluminum for close to nothing. it seems like a cheap fix it it will work. So what im asking is how thick would they need to be for that extra inch and a half or so. I have MAF control arm brackets to correct the caster now.

Thanks,
Nick

The length of the driveline has nothing to do with vibrations, and just because you install those spacers doesn't mean you will have vibes. You also have drop brackets instead of control arms, corrections bushings, or correction plates....meaning there is very little info/experience with your setup.

But you can't fix something that isn't broken, and you won't know if it's broken until you try it out.....so try it. One thing to consider in the spirit of being frugal, why not try and get spring spacers made for you out of that solid aluminum? Then you would have the money in your pocket for a DC shaft..IF you have vibes anyways.

how do you figure the the drop brakcets don't do anything to help correct caster when they lower the pivot point for the rear of the contol arm after the lift bringing it back to near stock. I know i will get vibes if i go any bigger because i already have slight vibrations now I never thought about the solid aluminum spacer so thanks for the input.

Never said they didn't correct caster, just said that there is little experience on the board with that setup due to other drawbacks of it. And as to lifting higher guaranteeing more vibes, I went from Slee 4" to Slee 6" front springs and my ride got smoother....but YMMV

If your asking about drive shaft spacers, they won't help on an '80. The links and shafts are close in length making for very little shaft length change with travel. If anything they would move the joints closer making the angle steeper and chance of vibes higher. Drive shaft spacers are mainly used for leaf spring rigs, where the axle moves away from the transfer with lift, requiring a longer shaft.

may just go with the coil spacers and see what happen thanks for the input
