Dot 4 is safe in a hj60 as dot 3 and dot4 are based on the same chemical. dot 4 mixed with dot 3 reduces dot 4 to dot 3 standard. Dot 4 handles higher heat and has less chance of vapour lock which is caused by a brake fluid that boils and forms gas in the brake line causing a spongy pedal because the liquid brake fluid won't compress because the gas will compress. That is the advantage of Dot4 fluid now Dot3 also has an advantage in that it resist condensation in the brake lines better than Dot4 which needs to be changed more frequently. Now do seals deteriorate with dot 4 I don't know I would think the rubber would be resilient to dot3 and dot4. I remember reading somthing about deterioration of rubbers but it may have been due to fluid with moisture and impurities just not sure. I think I will be running dot3 in mine so I have a longer period between changes.
