Can anyone tell me if the weatherstripping is supposed to be cut around the striker? Which way is correct?

Come Halloween I spray my weather-stripping with armor all. A few days later I silicon spray the stripping and the surface it butts into, plus I spray wd40 into the key hole, the lock mechanism and the door hinges.
Your weather stripping will last almost forever if you aren't ripping it off/apart when it freeze bonds in place. I vote for continuous if the door will shut.

I wonder if OEM Wx stripping is available somewhere. I ordered CCOT stuff and it did not work at all on my 79. The stuff is so thick nothing shuts right, had to trim a bunch off now i add home depot wx stripping to help with wind/water. OEM on my 92 is almost hollow, so it collapses in the jam and shuts easy. Anybody know of softer stuff that will compress? What does City racer material feel like?
