I have searched....

I am looking for pics of a AA twin sticks installed on a 700r4 trans (SBC of coarse. )

My concern is that the twin stick kit will be to far back on the trans and come up to far back in the trans tunnel to use a bench seat.. (Yes I do want a bench seat)

I know everyone thinks that paying for twin sticks is a little crazy but, to me it may save enough time and energy to justify the cost.

Besides my linkage pretty much sucks as it is.

But, as always comments welcome.

Lokar shifter, modified support and pivot mounting plate for the AA twin stick..


The 1962 FST truck had a three speed floor shift trans and tcase in it when it came into the shop that someone had put in at one time.

The Lokar cane passes through that hole in the floor that took a stock three-speed shifter boot.

You could make something very similar and make it function with your bench seat, no problem.

I don't think you are crazy. After spending two weeks trying to noodle out a simple way to do my linkage when I added the toy box I went ahead and got the AA twin stick. If I had a better machine shop I could probably have made something almost as good for about the same price.
 
It was not on the truck/with the pieces when they were dropped off.

This thing was a Lego kit, missing many of the Lego’s when it came into the shop.

The bezel had been missing for some time according to the owner. He was not aware that it had a stamped bezel originally. I purchased a glass unit from Tim at LandCruiserSpecialties that is getting painted semi-gloss black and the letters will have red paint laid into them. I will post some pictures of this project one of these days when it gets closer to being completed.

I believe there is a stamped steel bezel on ebay, but asking big $ for it.

I like my fiberglass one as well, but i think it's warped somehow?? The ends curl up and are not flush with the steel. I'm thinking about putting it on a couple boards then put a weight in the middle and get it to bend down, then while bent put a couple layers of glass down to get the proper shape. Any chance anybody else had this problemo.

I can't copy poser's idea so I'm thinking about going black with white letters.

Sorry if this is a hijack..

It simplifies the linkage when you need to replace the stock linkage. Like Poser changing transmissions or me when I added a Toy box (and 6") to my drive train.

The only utility I can see for 2L is for the guys that have an auto locker in the front. They tend to get bound up trying to negoiate tight switch backs. But I think this may have been discussed before. ;)

ah. i see. i need to buy a mini so i can get a toy box and learn these tricks. my 40 is too short and i dont think marlin makes toy boxes for the 5 speeds yet...

i have found the 2L useful in a number of situations. mostly when i am tugging some mo-ron out of a hole or towing along the side of a road. those ford things are heavy.

I'd rather have the extra gears than a 5 Spd. But that could just be me.:D

If I needed low range for a quick tug or, pushing the friggin dumpster out of my parking space at work:mad: , I would just put it in 4lo and not lock the hubs. IMHO shifting the front axle in and out of gear from inside only has utility when you have the hubs locked.
