Doetsch prerunner shocks part numbers
I have been messing with fitting the doetsch prerunner shock to my 80 and am posting up the part numbers for anyone interested. I had several back and forths with doestch on the correct sizes. I started by giving them the vehicle and lift specs and the shock they sent were basically factory specs. I then gave them measurements of the OME shock that were worn out on my truck and got a decent set of rears but felt the fronts were still off.
I have the OME heavy's and a 30 mm spacer on the front. The truck sitting in the shop had the OME and the doestch shocks at a 22 1/2 inches of length with the max amount being 24 inches. I felt that this was not going to give enough flex for what I wanted. I understand that OME is designed for expedition style use but think for what most of us want, you will need more than 1 1/2 inches of down travel.
Here is what I have settled on.
8355 SS for the front. From Doetsch website, 26 1/2 extended, 15 1/2 collapsed
8282-sc rear 24 1/2 extended and 14 1/2 collapsed
I will measure out the ranges on the truck thursday evening to give an idea of how far they extend and retract from the sitting postion.
The shock were $204 for a set of 4 to my doorstep and look very impressive.
