Need some help from the experts! Looking to replace my old worn out, cracked in multiple places, 2F head casting number
61031 9530. Would a different 2F head with casting number 61030 fit my 1979 2F engine?
Thanks in advance!

The key - if original engine, you most likely have domed pistons - with head out, easy to confirm. You will need a head just like the one picture where the head is mostly a big circle vs a newer head that is more egg shape - egg shape is for flat pistons in newer 2F. I don't recall the casting numbers off top of my head, but you can find that is a few minutes searching. There is a thread that talks about this very issue with picts.

Thanks for the info! I will search for that thread on casting numbers!

Yes, domed pistons.

The link I posted will do way better that I could ever explain. Where I started to learn from as I was rebuilding my engine.

Good luck
That post was very helpful! Thanks! So if I understand, as long as my replacement head is roundish, since I have domed pistons, it will work?

Correct -

And (I think I saw another thread where you were talking about engine rebuild) - domed pistons are hard to find unless you get the performance pistons like I did (my thread talks about it - and I am not saying look at my thread - it is a stream of consciousness vs useful). Anyway - because domed are hard to get, can put flat pistons, but will need the newer head (egg shape), else your compression will be worse and the rig won't run close to spec.

I think that thread talks about how the newer head is more prone to wear than the circle (older) one. Trades offs.

Yeah, you are right, I am working on complete engine rebuild. Luckily Pistons look great and can be reused. Thanks for all the helpful information.
