Does the 100 series LC ride smoother than the LX570???

I ask some of you who may have owned both or currently do.

A few months back we got a 2009 LX570. The car has been great and hasn’t met us with any surprises at 140k miles. I went ahead and did some PMT work on it to be on the safe side but overall the service history has been solid (I replaced diff oils, transfer case, auto trans fluid & spark plugs). Lexus advisor said If nothing is wrong or appears wrong with the suspension that you really don’t have to change the fluid. That said, I left it untouched.

after 3 months of ownership I have noticed that at times it rides really smooth, and sometimes a little stiff (vs.what I’m used to in the 100 series LC). Some of the other behavior is that it lowers itself at random at stop lights and the highway, which I have read is normal (but would like confirmation if you guys experience it.
its going in on Friday for the fluid change but wanted to see if anyone can confirm if it’s you think that’s normal.

thanks in advance!

Self-leveling at a stop is normal, but somewhat infrequent. Ride quality compared to a LX470 is about the same, more a difference of age and quality of a given truck's AHC status. Generally speaking the 200 is going to be more compliant, but if both are in perfect condition, not that much difference.

Compared to a LC, not sure how the LC stock suspension would ride smoother on ALL road surfaces. Definitely do the dealer fluid change as a baseline.

Stock tires? I know the standard 20" OEM on the 2013 ride harsher than something smaller, but not sure what the 2009 has on it.

yes, stock 20” on the LX. The LC is stock also.

I have a 2018 lx570 and a 2005 lx470... the 570’s ride is choppy and uncomfortable in my mind.

but my wife makes fun of me loving a floaty unresponsive ride. She can’t stand driving my 470.

personally I think the 20’s make up a majority of the rough ride

Tires and tire pressure have a significant impact on ride. I thought I was End of Life on my LX570 accumulators, as I had an inconsistent and too firm (or too squishy) ride. It was just too much air pressure in my LT/E series very high load (129 load index) tires. Once I got the pressure down enough (thanks to winter cold, not any brilliance on my part), the LX ride was right there where it should be. Unfortunately I had already ordered accumulators . . . suggest taking a hard look at tire pressures and tires (are they more than six years old from build date?)

To close the loop on this one, today I did have the hydraulic fluid changed and the service rep did say there was some air in the lines that could have been causing some of the bouncy ride I was experiencing. After the change I’ve only driven about 30 miles but I do notice somewhat more of a floaty ride (on comfort setting). Still not as soft as the 100 series but more consistent to say the least. There wasn’t any visible signs of leaks but it is something I’ll continue to monitor.

Can't speak for a LC 100, but I did own an LX470 prior to my LX570. My brother still has my old LX470 which I ride every blue moon.

The LX470 is definitely more softly sprung. Tuned much like the plush Lexus of the 90s. Buttery and plush compliance for days. Not squishy so much as plush and soft.

The LX570 is tuned like many of the more modern Lexus vehicles - rides smooth also but it is not tuned as soft as the LX470. Agreed that some of the impact harshness is due to the 20s rather than just firmer suspension tuning. Upgrading my 20" wheels to 33" tires brings back some of that compliance from the thwacks that the factory lower profile 20s transmitted. I like how the LX470 rode, but I like the balance better in the LX570. fhe LX470 while softer still felt a tad more agile. The LX570 is better rounded and immensely faster in engine (obviously) but also handling and suspension control to hold a faster pace on technical roads.

I own both, on smooth paved roads i feel that the rear end of the 100 is more composed and less jittery when compared to the LC200 which is what most people who drive 100 vs 200 back to back seem to notice.
Off road and on broken roads with big potholes the 200 rides much better with much more improved NVH levels (huge improvement over 100).

My lifted 200 on ome suspension & 33x12.5x18 has a firmer ride than my 100 with re-indexed t-bars/ome rr springs and 285/75/16’s
