Does it matter that my old steering damper seems to have ball joints and my new one doesn’t?

Hey! Just want to make sure I’m not going to over stress anything if I missed something in my research. The old damper had a bit of movement due to the pivoting joints but the new one does not.

This is an Old Man Emu damper on a 1997 HZJ77.

Thanks!

Hello,

Do not overstress. Steering dampers do that in old age.

Okay, thank you. However it's a different mount entirely. The new OME ones have a bolt go all the way through both the damper and the frame mounts (see photo of the yellow damper). The old one definitely seems more like a ball joint than simply a bolt sitting in a worn-out rubber bushing.
