Does a 2.5" lift require new shocks?

I put a Dobinsons 2” lift with brand new oem stock shocks and gave no issues.
 
Driving on the street or light trails that don't call for much articulation, you can get away with it. If you are going to task your rig with the sort of tasking that calls for a trail capable Land Cruiser over any other run of the mill 4x4 suv. you want longer shocks to match the taller suspension.
