hey all - I tackled the install for my Dobinsons drawers this weekend, but I lost the battle with installing the wing kit. Was hoping I could get some advice from others who have installed these.

The issue is that when I try and wedge the side wings in, they get squeezed so hard that they push into the area where the drawer and fridge slide come out and block them. It's kind of hard to see but the edge is blocking where the drawer slides out. You can see they're kind of getting forced into an angle:

I mounted the ribs to the floor per the directions and per other posts I've seen from users here:

And here you can see where the edge of the drawers fit and the distance to the rear hatch trim:

It feels to me like the wing kits are too big to fit in that space, and no matter how I wiggle things around I can't get enough space to fit them on both sides of the drawers.

Does anything look way off here? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Long time owner of these and I'm sorry to say, probably the biggest regret of any mod I've done. Hope you have luck with them.

The fitment difference is that the LX is oh so slightly narrower than the LC because of the extra sound deadening in the back. It's been a while since I did this install but I do remember that I actually shaved down the plastic in the wheels wells so I could wiggle the drawers a little more and push them back. I dont have the same rubbing you do but it's because I shaved some plastic.

That's a bummer to hear. What's been your issues with them? (other than the initial fitment)

It was definitely a tight fit between the wheel wells. I had to kind of wedge it in and it did scratch the plastic a bit - not the end of the world though.

However is there is no way I could attach the rear most bracket for the side wings because of the unit already touching the wheel wells on both sides.

Are you saying that on the LX even the trim near the rear hatch is narrower than the Toyota?

You need to pull them forward. Mine sit on the tailgate flap

Since you asked, My list of gripe are long with these:

They don’t lock at extension

The plastic knobs for the wing covers stick and strip. You can see I replaced mine with steel boat latches

The wing mounts are super flimsy. I have to retighten mine a few times per year.

The mounting system doesn’t inspire confidence. Load up your drawers and pull one out, you can rock the whole drawer system fore and aft.
