Just a couple of questions on my Toyota electronic distributor.
I was setting the air gap with the aid of the Toyota factory manual. I had the dizzy removed from the engine for ease of gap adjustment. I was looking at the photo in my manual and noticed that on the cam rim is a small dot. There is no mention in the manual about this dot that I can find but when I compare my dizzy to the manual photos, I see that my dot is off from is shown in the manual. Checked the Hanes book and it to shows the same as the factory book shows it. So I took the dizzy apart to see if one can reset it's position to mirror the way it is in the manual, no way. Can this be done or just leave it ?
While in the dizzy I looked at the springs and saw the large spring on the none governors posts so I install the larger spring to the posts were the 9.5 is stamped. I guessing but is the governor WT. side? See photos.
Thanks in advance.

Jim,
Half a hijack here. I heard of people saying that I should have my 60 series big cap recurved since I am smog free on my 2F. What do you do to it? Is it worth doing? It's a 78 2f that the new dizzy is in.

Thanks,
Brittain

Dizzy stuff

Excellent Jim, Believe I will move right along now.
I did want to ask one thing more, I read on one of the threads that the stop shaft is suppose to have a sleeve or something, and you use brass tube sleeves that you make yourself. Is this true or am I miss reading something. Is there a better thread that will relate to this?
Any how -----
Thanks much Jim.

No, you do not need to recurve the big cap dissy when used in a E-80 F/2F.
The dissy may need serviced: clean out petrified grease, replace dead vac advancer, replace worn governor pin bushing...
But the advance curve is OK for low compression engines.

It is the hi compression 81-later engines that need to be recurved when desmogged.

It is true.
There is not a thread to explain this.

For more info, write your name & address on a $100 bill, tape it to the dissy, mail the dissy to me and it will be fixed. :grinpimp:
