@Greg B

The rear dropped a little more than 3cm.. The height from rim top to middle fender was 37cm before ditching the AHC shocks.. Right before the swap I was using the AHC shocks and 860s.. Previously for a about a year I had the 863s in the rear and I've installed them back now with one trim packer on the RHS.. I have as you said drawers, kaymar bumper, combo sub tank, tire carrier and tire in the back.. I have misc gear always in the drawers that I don't remove, when the cargo area is loaded for a trip, it is usually to the roof + whatever camping gear I have on the roof rack.. It's gets pretty over loaded, I hope the 864s would handle the weight.. otherwise, I'll probably go back to AHC..

Siglo,
Thanks for the info. I'm leaving for a 12 day trip to Arizona and Utah on the 28th of this month, hence the curiousity. I have a Slee rear bumper and cargo drawers plus all the other gear needed for the trip. The 863's handle this weight pretty well up to now, we'll see how they do on the trip.

I bet the sub-tank is the difference. Several guys are running the 863's with rear bumpers, cargo drawers, and tons of gear. But, I don't think any of them have a sub-tank installed. When that tank is fully loaded I'm sure it adds some substantial weight. Oh yeah, also I don't have the tire carrier either, my spare is under the 100.

It will be interesting to hear how the 864's ride when not fully loaded. I bet they are plenty stiff. Good luck to you, hope the 864's work out well.

Carlysle

I have a lx470 suspension that is giving me such a bad ride with vounce on every tiny bump...I would like to know about the swap to regular suspension over the ahc...I do not off road,,,just drive on the road..need info on the kits if you can help me thanks

Carlysle, it sounds like 1 or more of your damping force actuators went bad or leaked. Sometimes they can be recharged.

If you want to ditch your AHC suspension in favor of the stock LC suspension, the cheapest way would be to buy somebody's used LC springs and torsion bars along with maybe some new Bilstein shocks. I only say Bilstein because several member have reported great results with the Bilsteins over OEM LC shocks. As long as you have all the hardware, it should bolt right in. You wil also need to cap the existing AHC lines that lead to the AHC shocks.

Slee Off Road has done many of these "conversions." Give them a call. I bet they have a bunch of lightly used OEM LC springs and T-bars they could sell you too. New T-bars are about $275/ea (discounted), so used ones will save you some coin.

+1 thats what I would do also, simple and pretty cheap. When I lifted the 2000 LC I kept all the stock bits so I could if ever needed swap the stuff to the 99 LX 470
