Different Alt. + Volt. Reg.

I'm assuming a '78 alternator will work with a '74 voltage reg? The regs physically don't appear different other than mounting location.

Why not just get one with the internal regulator? I think you are correct, they should be compatible.

Cause I have easy access to a '78 alt. and the only reason I want it anyway is because my York mount system might require it. My voltage reg is brand new too. Basically this is just the cheapest way out.

Does your Alternator also have Oil lines? :
