Is there a difference between the early and late 2L headgaskets and valves? trying to order parts but there's no information on the differences between the two.

There are a lot of differences between the two. I would not attempt to interchange parts. Use Megazip and ToyoDIY to compare part numbers etc. I recommend ordering OEM Toyota parts (from Partsouq... ). 1989+ 2LT-II shares same shim over bucket and valve design as 1PZ/1HZ/1KZ/1HDT though.... Quite different than the older rocker head.
they are different across the board, does not look like an easy conversion looking at the two gaskets side by side
old style uses a cam on the side and adjustable rocker arms to actuate the valves. New style uses cams over lifters with shims for adjustment.
